propylene glycol is a chemical reagent, miscible with water, ethanol and a variety of organic solvents, its chemical formula is C3H8O2. Normal for colorless viscous liquid, almost tasteless, smell slightly sweet. Propylene glycol can be used as raw material for unsaturated polyester resins. It can be used with glycerin or sorbitol as a wetting agent in cosmetics, toothpaste and soaps. It is used as an emulsifier in the food industry, as a humidifying and smoothing agent in hair colorants, as an antifreeze agent, and also used in cellophane, plasticizer and pharmaceutical industry.
